Terrorism, Zionism threatening gobal security

Former Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian underlined that the world peace and stability is under threat by both the terrorist groups and Israel.

"Terrorism and Zionism are lethal poisons to stability and security of both world and region," Amir Abdollahian, who is now an advisor to the foreign minister, said.

He, meantime, pointed to the regional developments, and said, "Developments in Iraq, Turkey and Syria proved that people play very important roles in deciding for their country."

Amir Abdollahian also condemned the military coup attempt in Turkey on Friday, describing it as treason by some domestic elements secretly supported by foreigners.

"Iran supports president and people of Turkey that is an important neighbor and strategic ally," the former Iranian deputy foreign minister said.

He underlined that recent Turkish developments indicated that tools such as "coup and terrorism are two sides of a coin" that have targeted regional security, stability and welfare.

An attempted Turkish military coup appeared to crumble on Saturday after crowds answered President Tayyip Erdogan's call to take to the streets to support him and dozens of rebel soldiers abandoned their tanks in the main city of Istanbul.

Turkey’s EU Minister Omer Celik announced that his country is almost through with the last night coup, although a number of commanders are still held hostage.

His remarks came after Prime Minister Binali Yildirim officially declared the failure of the coup attempt, but meantime reiterated earlier allegations that government holds Fetullah Gulen and his followers responsible for the coup. Yildirim said the government is now in control of the country, adding that the arrests will continue and the detainees might be given capital punishment if certain changes are made to the constitution. Turkey's constitution bans execution.
