1979 revolution continues to awaken regional nations

A political leader in the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement says the 1979 Islamic Revolution of Iran continues to awaken the regional nations about their assets and true enemies, adding that the revolution has already left a clear positive impact on the Palestinian issue.

Abdullah Shami was speaking to the Qods News Agency few days ahead of the 36th anniversary of the landmark revolution.

The prominent Palestinian figure said thank to the Islamic Revolution of Iran, military know-how including rocket making technology was acquired by the Palestinian groups. "The issue had a large impact on the Zionist regime's stance especially during the recent war" on Gaza, Shami said.

In another regard, the Islamic Jihad leader said the 1979 revolution showcased the victory of the resolve of a nation (Iranian nation) over a US ally (the regime of Shah).

"The revolution rested on popular resolve rather then on arms; the issue created a large hope in the regional nations," the Palestinian personality added.

Shami said the 1979 revolution helped the regional nations to pick the attitude of combat against occupiers, especially the occupying Zionist regime.

The Islamic Jihad leader said also approved a call by the Islamic Revolution Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei for arming the Palestinian population in the occupied West Bank, saying the call further enhanced hope among the Palestinian groups.

The initiative "would expand the extent of resistance to the entire region," he added.
