IRI appreciates Al-Azhar efforts in Palestinian issue

Head of Iran's Interest Office in Cairo Mohammad Mahmoudian has conferred with Sheikh of al-Azhar Ahmed el-Tayeb.

According to the report of Foreign Ministry Media Department, in the meeting, Mahmoudian said that the Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei and Shia grand ayatollahs are determined to maintain and strengthen Islamic unity and want more active role of al-Azhar in strengthening unity and Islamic proximity, according to IRNA.

Sheikh al-Azhar welcomed new head of Iran's Interest Office in Cairo and expressed hope that the trend of proximity between Islamic religions can bear concrete results in direction of strengthening Islamic unity by holding dialogue and constructive intellectual cooperation among Islamic Ulama.

Ahmed al-Tayeb said that Islamic Umma are facing constant conspiracies of enemies, adding that enemies intend to create conflicts among different ethnic and religious groups, so Islamic world ulama should try to come to an understanding and dialogue among Islamic religions to prevent disunity among Muslims either Shia or Sunni.

He called unity and solidarity as important factors for stabilizing peace and security in the whole Islamic world.

El-Tayeb appreciated invitation of Ayatollah Araki to attend International Islamic Unity Conference in Iran and expressed al-Azhar readiness for cooperation and intellectual collaboration with Islamic world Ulama.

The Iranian diplomat also thanked the prominent Egyptian figure for his efforts in promoting the Palestinian issue.

Mahmoudian then touched on the remarks of the Leader of Islamic Revolution in a meeting with participants of 'World Congress on Rradical and Takfiri groups from Islam Ulama Viewpoints' in the city of Qom, Iran.

The diplomat said Ayatollah Khamenei by referring to efforts of world arrogant powers to impose problems of Takfiri and radical groups to the Islamic world and expressing regret over deviation of Islamic Umma attention from main problem of Islamic world, which is Palestine, Holy Quds and Al-Aqsa Mosque, underlined necessity of using all forces of the Islamic nation to confront with conspiracies of the world arrogant powers and the Zionist regime.
