Calls for boycott campaign against Israeli goods
A Palestinian economic expert called for activating the boycott campaign locally and internationally against Israeli products, affirming that such peaceful means is an effective tool to make the Israeli occupation incur heavy economic losses.
Maher Tayseer, director of the public relations and media department at the chamber of commerce and industry in Gaza, stated on Wednesday that boycotting the Israeli products is a national duty and a form of peaceful resistance against the occupation.
Tayseer pointed out that the commercial boycott campaign against Israel started years ago, but it was seasonal and did not yield the intended results.
He said that following the Israeli last war on the Gaza Strip, the boycott campaign found momentum locally and globally triggered by the atrocities that had been committed by the Israeli army, but now the people's interest in it started to decline.
In order for the boycott campaign to be more effective and fruitful, he stressed, it should be adopted as a policy and strategy by governments.
"The campaign should be given support by peoples, the media and governments, and there has to be alternatives that cover consumer needs, such as the national, Arab and Islamic products that have the same quality," Tayseer underlined.
