British activists protest against G4S company

Huamn rights activists in Britain were going to stage a protest in front of the London headquarter of private security company, G4S, over its role in the illegal detention and torture of Palestinians in the Israeli regime’s prisons.

The demonstration was to be held in front of the G4S office in London on Friday, August 30.

Activists condemn the company’s provision of expertise and security systems to Israeli jails, in which the Palestinians are detained, interrogated and tortured.

G4S has been heavily criticized for its cooperation with the Israeli regime, including providing equipment and services to Israeli checkpoints, illegal settlements, the apartheid wall and jails where Palestinian political captives, including children, are held in violation of international law and subjected to mistreatment and torture.

Meanwhile, pro-Palestinian activists are going to hold a protest against an Israeli company on Saturday.

SodaStream is an Israeli manufacturer of home carbonation systems and refill components. In August this year the company opened a shop in Brighton, London called EcoStream.

This is its first own brand shop in the UK and its opening represents an attempt to expand into the UK market by promoting itself as an eco-friendly business. But their products are far from ethical and sustainable.

Instead, they profit from Israel’s occupation of Palestine through the theft of Palestinian resources, occupation of Palestinian land and exploitation of Palestinian labor.
