Hamas welcomes any initiative to end occupation

Palestinian Prime Minister Isma'il Haniyeh on Tuesday reaffirmed that the government would be willing to consider any initiative which would establish peace through ending Zionist regime's occupation of the Palestinian territories.

He also called for a halt to Israeli aggression following recognition of the inalienable Palestinian rights.

"There is no justification in keeping the status quo," he said.

Haniyeh affirmed that the Israeli threats on his life as well as to target other Hamas leaders and Palestinian activists from other factions indicate that "the Israelis are confused after they failed to achieve their goals especially in Gaza City."

Haniyeh also reiterated that the Palestinian people are looking forward to establishing their independent state on all the Palestinian territories with Beit Ul Moqaddas as its capital.

Furthermore, he applauded the Bahraini delegation who stayed in the Gaza Strip and refused to go back through an Israel-controlled crossing.

He also thanked the Egyptians for allowing the Bahraini delegation to cross through the Rafah crossing.
