Ahmadinejad, Mubarak call for quick action

Presidents of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Egypt on Monday night stressed on the need to speed up the removal of the seige on the innocent Palestinians in Gaza and give assistance to the wounded.

In a phone conversation with Hosni Mubarak, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that "with the martyrdom of every Palestinian, our responsibility becomes heavier."

He said, "It's time to help the Palestinians come out of this unbearable condition."

President Ahmadinejad reiterated the necessity for all Muslim countries to cooperate on the issue of Palestine, adding, "We must cooperate to remove the siege so that the Palestinian people get the most basic necessities of life."

His Egyptian counterpart President Hosni Mubarak for his part presented a report on the latest conditions in Gaza and stressed that food, medicine and fuel must be sent to those under siege in Gaza very quickly.
